What a week for our CEO students! They kicked things off at the Monroe County Museum with Executive Director Tracy Dean — stepping into the World of Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird) , Truman Capote, and a real 1930s law office right here in Monroeville!

Guest speakers Annie Hill and Sabrina Kidd then helped the students think critically about their financial goals for their first team business venture which will be featured in November 2026.

Annie Hill, a new entrepreneur, shared valuable insight on starting a business: planning, organization, and a solid business plan are the keys to success. She described a business plan as a living document — the single most important thing a new owner can create — one that forces you to answer the tough questions before committing money, time, and reputation. She also encouraged students to learn the financial responsibilities and tax laws that come with a new business.

Sabrina Kidd, Chairman of the Monroe County Board of Education and Director of Operations and HR at Monroeville Water Works, challenged each student to create a personalized five-year financial plan. With real-life budgeting scenarios, Mrs. Kidd helped them build their own budgets — and reminded them to always be respectful and accountable for their actions.

Thank you Mrs. Tracy Dean, Mrs. Annie Hill and Mrs. Sabrina Kidd to your commitment to our CEO students!
